Skip breakfast to develop metabolic syndrome



Skipping breakfast during teenage could increase risk of developing metabolic syndrome in later parts of the life. Metabolic syndrome is characterized by high blood cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure. The study was published in the journal Public Health Nutrition.                                                                        

People who ate poor breakfast or neglect breakfast are at high risk of developing metabolic syndrome during adulthood. The Swedish survey has inquired the breakfast habits of about 889 teens during 1981.

The study subjects were followed-up over 27 years and evidences of high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity were observed in 68% of people who skipped breakfast.
