Depression is a disease as widespread as odious as it affects the way we see ourselves, others and the world around us. If m many of its symptoms are known, often little is known about the relationship that exists between some forms of depression and women. If the woman wants a commonplace prone to depression because of his "weakness or tenderness, the studies show how depression is common among men and women, but some forms are more prevalent among women.
The reasons for this are, however, be found in a set of factors that weaves genetics, hormonal changes, negative life events, use of certain drugs or substances and certain diseases, and socio-affective.
It is estimated that up to 25% of women suffer from depression at some point in life. The incidence of depression differs between men and women began to emerge in adolescence, with an emphasis on differences over age. Women, in fact, seem to suffer more than men over between 18 and 44 years, and particularly after 25. They return to be more at risk than men over 65, while the band between 44 and 65 seems to show a lower incidence of depression in women.
But what makes women, especially in these age groups are more exposed to suffer from depression? The reasons are many and here Try to include some forms of depression as well as those popular and sometimes their women.
For example, there is a relationship between depression and chemical imbalances in the brain. These alterations may be caused by hormonal changes or emotional reactions to daily events or traumatic are often accompanied by anxiety and insecurity. For example, the rush of the hormone levels of estrogen and progesterone in some particular moments (puberty, childbirth, menopause, menstrual cycle), leads to an alteration in mood, as well as, emotional stress and mood swings can cause alterations hormone.
In other cases, however, the mood swings can be related to the period of motherhood, especially in the first days and weeks following the birth of the child. The fluctuations are so common as to be considered normal, but it is true that some women may deepen and extend these feelings to be articulated as a Post-Partum Depression. It 'important to remember that women are more susceptible to this disease are people who have previously suffered from depression or, conversely, are more vulnerable if they have subsequently suffered from post-partum depression.
There are also signs of its age: in fact, young women, especially during adolescence, they see a distorted image of its cover, with a loss of appetite and a general sense of unhappiness that may have an impact on academic , and working on their nutritional balance. The older women, however, think more to its failures and gray moments of their lives, feeling a sense of emptiness, and sometimes neglect and lack of long-term relationships.
This overview should prompt us to never take lightly the symptoms they perceive, understand how the factors that lead to depression can be many and to be combated with a thorough course of treatment that helps people to know and learn strategies to deal with the depression , by identifying the triggers and learning to deal with them.
